Dear Friends,
Sad news I'm afraid. Margaret Brightmore passed away on the
23rd April 2010.
Margaret as long serving members will remember was one of our most
productive Musical Producers. When she wasn't producing Margaret also
went on stage appearing in both plays and operetta. Margaret had a
lovely contralto voice. Margaret also served as our President for many
years and latterly she has been one of our Vice-Presidents. Until
recently Margaret always came along to the shows.
Margaret and Pam donated the Brightmore Cup in memory of her late
husband, Ted, many of whose contraptions we still use, including the
origami that keeps the flats together.

Dear Friends,
Long, long ago, in early October 2009, rehearsals began for our
next musical. Through rain or shine and through some of the most
severe travel conditions on record they continued, our members
encouraged by the boundless enthusiasm of the producer, Jenny
Witchell. Soon you will be able to see it and we are pleased to
announce that our next musical will be:
KISS ME KATE
This is Cole Porter’s most successful comedy musical, with such
memorable songs as "Another Op’nin, Another Show", "Wunderbar", "So
in Love", "Too Darn Hot" and of course the show stopping "Brush Up
Your Shakespeare".
Kiss Me Kate is a musical and a play within a play, whereby the
interior play is a musical version of Shakespeare’s, ‘The Taming of
the Shrew’. Don’t miss this musical extravaganza with its many great
songs that will be familiar to you.
We will be presenting Kiss Me Kate at 8 pm from Wednesday, 14th
April through to Saturday, 17th April 2010 at the Victory
Hall. Hainault Road. Chigwell. We have wheelchair access at the
Victory Hall so everyone is able to come and enjoy the show.
Tickets are £7.50 and available from the Box Office now! So
contact our Box Office on:

or by e-mailing: rct_gdf@hotmail.com
We hope that you enjoyed our last production, ‘Deadly Nightcap’.
This murder mystery provided the audience with lots of clues and red
herrings plus some big surprises. The play followed the Cabaret that
was part of our 75th anniversary celebrations last June.
Throughout our first 76 years we were privileged to have in our
number, our last original member, Hilda Harman. Sadly, Hilda died
late last year and she will be sorely missed. Hilda was a staunch
supporter of the Society, joining the Society when it was formed on
22nd September 1933. Hilda will particularly be
remembered for her glorious contralto voice.
If you enjoyed our Christmas Quiz and we thank you for supporting
that evening in December, you will also enjoy our next social event.
Wendy Butler, our Social Secretary, has organised a Barn
Dance at the Victory Hall on May 7th at 8 pm. Tickets
cost £10 each and will include a caller, plus ploughman’s supper. Be
sure to book your tickets for this exciting evening by contacting
Wendy on 020 8281 0192 soon! |
